Upcoming Shows At Flood Lights Theater
Here are just a few of the upcoming performances at Flood Lights Theater:
BiakyueAmong the Akan people of Ghana, West Africa, Biakuye means “unity.” It is the spirit of unity that brings the American and African members of Biakuye together to perform "melorhythmic world percussion," uniting the cool sound of American jazz vibraphone, drumset, and electric bass with the melorhythmic richness of African marimba, kalimba, and hand drums. |
Festival of Brass Concert Our First Annual Festival of Brass concludes with a concert featuring James Gourlay (pictured), tubist soloist, conductor and professor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. He will perform with and guest conduct by the Capital City Brass Band, directed by Kenneth Kroesche. Two highly-acclaimed dance companies join forces for an exhilarating evening of dance. Friday, July 17, 2009 8 p.m. |
Fahrenheit 451 Our third play of the 2009-2010 Season, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, is presented for thousands of students from Miami-Dade County Public High and Middle Schools. Our School Study Guide and our post performance discussions with students focused on the many important issues in Fahrenheit 451, including First Amendment rights and censorship. |
A Lesson Before Dying With this award-winning production, we continued our longstanding commitment to the students of South Florida. In addition to our regular performances, we presented the play to thousands of Miami-Dade Public School students who attended morning performances in our theatre. |
Butterfly Boogie Bugs aren't gross—they're great! Let our giant cockroach puppet teach your students why insects are the coolest creatures around. We then take off on a 3,000-mile adventure with our butterfly-themed show, "The Tale of Flutterby and Piggle." This musical, interactive performance introduces students to the interdependence among plants and animals. |
Migration Sensation This multi-layered show teaches students the importance of wetlands through interactive poetry, songs, games, and the musical "The Great Migration Adventure." Your students help two birds on a musical journey from North America to the tropics and then back to your city. |
We hope that you'll join us for these performances. If you would like tickets, please call us or visit our box office.
